One Dead, One Critical In Attempted Murder/Suicide

"JACKSON, MS — Jackson police said a man shot and killed a woman before turning the gun on himself.

"The shootings happened about 1 p.m. Thursday at a home on the 2300 block of Lake Glen Drive, said Jackson Police Department spokeswoman Officer Colendula Green.

"The man and woman, who police have not identified, argued inside the home before the shooting, Green said.

"The woman was shot twice, died at the scene, Green said. The man suffered a gunshot wound to the head and was taken to the University of Mississippi Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition, Green said.

"The man appeared to be in his late 20s and the woman appeared to be a little younger, Green said.

"Additional information was not immediately available."

  1. Two articles on this one. Neither mentioned "murder/suicide". This one was headlined as a "double shooting" even though it's clear by the first sentence that it was an attempted murder/suicide.

As of 01/13/2012 the cops aren't even releasing his name! I guess he either didn't die or hasn't died yet, so this is technically a "murder/attempted suicide" or what I like to call a "botched murder/suicide", which is purposely ambiguous. Either a botched murder or a botched suicide (or both) counts as a "botched murder/suicide".
