Bodies Found After No-Show Prompts Welfare Check


"TRINITY, NC — Randolph County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating an apparent murder/suicide in the Trinity area.

"On Tuesday shortly after 4 p.m., deputies with the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of Pleasant Union Road in Trinity. Capt. Derrick Hill with Randolph Sheriff’s Office said deputies were responding to a request for a welfare check because the woman living there had not been to work as scheduled. According to a press release, when deputies arrived they found a male and female dead in the residence.

"Officials report at the time of the release the incident appeared to be an incident of homicide and suicide. Authorities currently believe a man killed his wife and then himself.

"The investigation is ongoing. Further information is pending notification of family members."
